My long holiday weekend started out far more glamorous than it ended (in the coming posts you shall see…). On Thursday evening, my college girlfriends and I went and saw Sex and the City 2 at the Sundance Kabuki Theatre here in San Francisco. Despite its critically panned over-the-top excessiveness and weak story-line, I loved it. It was just so fun to watch! And the Fashion! It made the movie. Especially the Desert Fashion. I am trying to decide when and where I can rock a turban….
In order to celebrate the new movie and a night out with my girlfriends (Happy 25th birthday, Aileen), I threw on my most Carrie-inspired ensemble.
The dress is by Rojas. It is hard to tell from these pictures, but it has a pleated look much like the very cool and numerous Halston Heritage dresses Carrie wears throughout the movie (SJP is their new creative director).
The layered necklaces I wore were an ode to young Carrie from the early SATC seasons. And since I am such a nostalgic sucker for those episodes from the late 1990s, early 2000s, one of my favorite moments of the movie was when Carrie came out wearing this:
The John Galliano for Dior newspaper dress Carrie first wore in Season 3, when she went to meet Big’s ex Natasha. Adorable. Loved it. It was a cute tie-in the the early days of Carrie and Big’s relationship, too. Nicely done.
The only thing I do have to say about the fashion in the movie was that everyone was just so dressed up all of the time. Carrie even wore an evening gown to hang out around the apartment with Big. Remember when she used to wear hilariously funky lounging outfit get-ups while writing in front of her window and narrating to us? I missed that.
