Happy 6th of July! I can’t believe it is already July. It hit me this weekend as I turned my calendar over and started celebrating Independence Day and the long weekend.

Normally I go home to Seattle for 4th of July weekend to hang out with my family and enjoy the festivities on our little island. It unfortunately didn’t happen this year due to my busy work/life schedule. But the family did send me pictures throughout the day to show me what I was missing.
Like these:
from Seattle’s Cupcake Royale : Red Velvet w/ a blueberry on top (red, white & blue) & Strawberry 66 (cupcake of the month made with fresh local berries)
and these:
Fresh picked Bainbridge Island strawberries and raspberries from the farm up the road from my childhood home.
…
They really know how to get me, that family. Pretty cruel, huh?

I spent the holiday in true San Franciscan fashion: midday mimosa picnic and bluegrass guitar sing-along in Dolores Park, and an evening rooftop viewing of the fireworks over Bernal Hll in the Mission (far away from the fog that was plaguing the northern part of the city). It was a beautiful, sunny day spent with good friends. A few of my snapshots:
my lovely friend Aileen (in turquoise and lace and tortoiseshell sun g’s!), and partner in crime for the weekend.
I wore my ban.do red sequin heart headband for a shot of patriotism and sparkle
Aileen and I did our nails on Saturday. I got into the fashion nail decals from Walgreens. I am quite happy with my DIY works of art. Kind of impressive, don’t you agree?
and then there was the acoustic bluegrass sing-along

…
I hope you had a lovely 4th of July, yourself!
