New York Fashion Week has officially ended and the fashion world has moved on to London, but I am still busy taking in all the shows from the last days. My final post on NYFW concludes with 2 more excellent beyond excellent, and mighty colorful, collections: L.A.M.B. & Proenza Schouler.
L.A.M.B.
Gwen Stefani wins the award for the show that looks like the best party. The clothes are bright and cheery, the models smiley, and the atmosphere multi-colored (check out the changing background lights and images in these pictures). Gwen was definitely dreaming of a faraway tropical place with this collection, and I am totally down with letting me take her there. Watching her show makes me yearn for a pina colada. I didn’t care for a couple of her looks that ventured too far into rasta-land, but iI found her use of layered and mismatched multi-colored prints to be truly inspired. And the plaid and bright white prints layered in between the afro beats felt so very fresh. And how pretty is her take on the classic black suit (final picture)? Gwen knows how to make fun clothes and get a girl noticed, that’s for sure.

Proenza Schouler
Jack and Lazaro, the gentlemen behind Proenza Schouler, also are big lovers of color and prints. However, they chose to take a more lady-like spin on the concept for Spring 2011. Enter Chanel-esque jackets and feminine lingerie-inspired pieces. Thrown into the mix are modern minimalism sack-like dresses that are turned inventive and intriguing with beautiful prints. Jack and Lazaro have truly mastered the art of making neon brights pretty over the past years, and here they go again. This collection, with its silhouettes and use of color, is so perfect for the girl, like me, who likes a little bit of their downtown mixed- in with their uptown. Jack and Lazaro are truly gentlemen after my own heart. Love.
