F-F-F-Fashion Week continues! Three of my favorite designers showed in the past couple of days and thus, I am sharing my favorite of their looks here with you today. Ladies & Gentlemen… Rodarte, Alexander Wang & Marchesa.

Rodarte
The Rodarte Spring/Summer collection hits close to my heart. It was inspired by the colors and natural patterns of Northern California where they grew up, and I currently reside. Redwood trees, shades of brown from 70s suburbia, gilded metallics from the legacy of the gold rush. The Mulleavy sisters sent Redwood panels to Italy to be made into prints, and drew inspiration from the asian culture of the bay area to make their blue china-pattern prints. Pretty fantastic stuff. The Mulleavy sisters prove once again they’re just simply the cool girls from Berkeley taking over New York, and I love that.

Alexander Wang
Mr. Wang took a serious departure from his signature black black black with this Spring collection. Instead he went with that other neutral “color” of the season: white. He said he was “looking for something pure.” His white looks, which he sent down the runway all together in the beginning, had a deconstructed construction theme. Think painters’ overalls and paint in the models’ hair. Last to come down the runway were monochromatic looks in shades of terra cotta and mint that made his entire show come alive. Unstructured unlike many of his peers’ looks, Wang’s pieces all swayed on the runway and were a breath of fresh air in the middle of the week. His collection was decidedly modern and minimalist, which of course, feels very 90s, and therefore, so very now.

Marchesa
In contrast to the modern minimalism of Mr. Wang is Marchesa: beautiful girly delight defined. Like always, Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig sent looks down the runway that were made for the Oscars, or in the case of the short dresses, the Vanity Fair Oscar afterparty. No need to venture seriously into the trending world of structured, tailored separates (although they dipped their toes), these girls do pretty party dresses and gowns so so very well. And we need them for this. Do notice the grounding warm beige-y neutral colors seen in other collections – so of the moment. Bring on the rosettes and jewels, ladies!
