January is tough for fashion. Everything’s on clearance, newness out there is limited and we’re all feeling a little cash-strapped from December to want to go out and buy anything new. Plus, the coming down of Holiday decor has made the cold weather significantly less romantic and if you’re anything like me, you just want to walk around in basically a snuggie. You just have to work a little bit harder in January to get inspired. I admit I was suffering last week from lack of inspiration and thus had to take a little break. I think I wore all black all week. And plenty of oversized sweaters. It was getting a bit tired though and by Saturday I was ready to pull myself out of my fashion slump. I got a  lot of help from Friday night happy hour where I got to meet and mingle with such inspiring ladies such as Caitlin of Sacramento Street, Taylor of Sterling Style, and Katie of The Neo-traditionalist amongst other fabulous gals (p.s., that was fun ladies!). I also got a little help from a little something called JCrew.com. I found their latest Collection lookbook to be exactly what I needed to pull me out of my rut. The play of color and texture as well as the mix of party clothes into everyday looks (because, come on, doesn’t everyone yearn to wear their party clothes long after New Years Day has arrived?) spoke to me and had me rifling through my closet looking for my next great look. Color me inspired.
