Chris Benz’s Fall 11 show made me feel like I had fallen into some sort of Fall themed wonderland, complete with mad hatters. In other words, heaven to me. Chris was influenced by time he spent in Savannah, Georgia, hanging out in old giants mansions, some a little decrepid and undone while still carrying an air of stately elegance. The heavily vintage inspired collection has an eclectic, bohemian vibe with flashes of ladylike charm. Part Katherine Hepburn, part Stevie Nicks. The focused color palette of moody blues and greys and pops of mustards and pinks pulled the Katherines in prim skirts and dresses and Stevies in flowing wide leg pants and maxi skirts together. Chris’s use of layering to pull together a true look is pretty incredible. With this collection, he has created the kind of wearable fantasy fashion with a touch of camp and quirk that is so fun to see come down the runway.

Chris displayed his flare at a very young age and his talent is not surprising.
Glad he went for it!

I loved the whimsy! Who else has his models standing on pillows. Fun contrast.
