I am feeling ever so inclined to give a big Congratulations to the boys of Proenza Schouler, who won the prestigious Womenswear Designer of the Year award at tonight’s Council of Fashion Designers of America Design Awards in New York. If you read my blog, you know how much of a fan I am of their work and art. I think they really outdid themselves this year and deserve this award in a big way. Congratulations are also in order for Marc Jacobs, who won a Lifetime Achievement Award, Phoebe Philo of Céline – the International Award, Lady Gaga – the Fashion Icon Award as well as Prabal Garang, Michael Bastian, Alexander Wang, Robert Geller and Eddie Borgo. It also should not be overlooked that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were nominated this year for the Swarovski Award for Womenswear for The Row, and they have never been to design school. Their self-taught technical design skill and business acumen is impressive. Did you see their article in Newsweek? No?… here you go.

And of course, it is not just an awards ceremony, but also a serious Fashion Show (probably the most serious of serious fashion shows), so here are a few of my favorite looks of the night on some of the most major fashion darlings.
