arriving at the Lincoln Center (home of NYFW)
Leandra Medine aka The Man Repeller being interviewed
Joanna Hillman, Senior Fashion Market Editor for Harper’s Bazaar & one of my personal style icons
This past Sunday (Sept 11) I attended the Lela Rose Spring/Summer 2012 Show at the Lincoln Center. Models with long, flowing natural hair floated down the runway in polka dots, bright, optimistic color (blues and citrus tones), organza and lazer-cut circular cut-outs, sporty colorblocking, floaty metallic gold and hand painted florals. The show was a welcome contrast to all of the grungy, layered monochromatic neutral looks I had seen at earlier shows. It was all ‘pretty’, a Lela trademark.
To honor the day, Lela started the show with a blackout and John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ coming from all of the speakers, and had all of the audience singing along softly- very touching. During the show, Lela used a bouncy soundtrack of Foster the People, and my new favorite band, The Cults (making me love her more). Eva Amurri and her mother, Susan Sarandon, along with Eva’s friend Brad Goreski sat front row directly in front of me. Eva looked gorgeous in a LR -who is designing her wedding dress- painted floral tea length dress. So fun!
on me: Gap blouse, Topshop skirt (bought in NY), Vince Camuto shoes, Kooba clutch, Stella McCartney sunglasses, Alexis Bittar, F21 & vintage bracelets
(all photography by me except first shot – thanks Kim! for more coverage of the Lela Rose show see here)

more show coverage to come! xx

Oh god, I love Lela Rose! And I love your outfit. Cobalt is my favorite and totally thought that blouse was Equipment. Lastly, love that you love Joanna Hillman too. I’m working on a post right now for next Tuesday’s “Style Thief” section of my blog… that very outfit that she is wearing will be included. She is SO AWESOME!! Ok that is all. Can you come back to NYC already?
