And now I bring to you the Nicholas K Spring/Summer 2012 show. This is actually the first show I saw, last Thursday, and it was pretty much an emotional experience (never thought even 2 years ago I would be getting to go to New York Fashion Week!). One of my idols, Kelly Cutrone (owner of People’s Revolution, the PR agency for Nicholas K), even seated me personally in the second row, to boot. No joke. Okay so giddy emotions aside about the awesomeness of the experience for me…. back to the fashion coming down the runway.
Layered up, slightly grungy monochromatic looks in a soft, light neutral color palette contrasted with black. Cornrows and headscarves abounded. Um, hello 90s, they’re back. I especially liked how Women’s and Men’s were shown together (traditionally separate shows), a female model alternating with a male, and oftentimes in matching androgynous looks. Very very cool. My favs were the looks in teals and dusty blues and all of the open weave sweaters (this current trend will get major in Spring!) and anorak jackets.
