handknit poncho, Clu reversible gold skirt, scarf from Nepal, Frye shoes
This is my holiday ode to ‘Ugly Betty’ look (remember that poncho she wore in episode 1 that was so fashionably misguided? Hopefully I am pulling this off better…). My mother actually knitted this for me (hmm… I may be digging myself further into this Ugly Betty hole, yes?) several years ago during the last poncho trend phase and I have always kind of loved wearing it around the house, curled up on the couch. Here I decided to pair it with one of my favorite holiday-esque gold skirts (it reverses to a more toned down black with gold shimmer) as an ode-to-craftsy-70s alternative to a chunky sweater. Sometimes you just have to mix it up. Have Betty and I inspired you? (I actually think I also look a little bit straight off the old-school Marni runway, a designer who always loved the craftsy-chic, and for that, I love her).
I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend. I took a little break from everything in life to relax and hang out with my family, and it felt oh-so-good. I got to enjoy a little/a lot of these seasonal treats:
Mom’s homemade Pumpkin Pie with Tartine Bakery pie crust from their beautiful cookbook I gave her last Christmas
I am back to the grind now for a couple days, and then off to New York City on Wednesday for some work and play over the weekend, yay! Expect some fun pics coming up of my escapades in the city during Holiday time!
